Arcane Perry - Grow and Rot

This cameraless animation was hand drawn on 16mm film stock. Depicting the ebb and flow of our existence, through images of corruption and regeneration we cycle between thriving and surviving. Reminding the viewer that everything, good and bad, is temporary. Life and death are our only constants.

Artist Bio:
Arcane Perry is a multi-disciplinary, process based artist. They primarily work with subjects surrounding systematic issues connected to climate change and the human condition, focusing on capturing the abstract emotions and surreal experiences we all encounter. Their media projects range from a mix of hand-drawn animation, analog film and digital video. When they are not creating films they are often working with land-based material, continuing to explore our connection as artists to our natural environments. Searching for ways to become more consciously intertwined and actively participate within the ecosystem we rely on for life.
When they are not working on their own art practice, you’ll often find them assisting with others. Being a camera operator and editor to several local filmmakers, photo documentation of artist’s work, in ditches harvesting plants with their partner, being an extra pair of hands during printing chaos and volunteering tech skills for local events. Serving their community has become a core part in Arcane’s ever evolving creative process.
